Lorena Ball is a vampire, the maker of Bill Compton.

She was turned in 1788 by vampire named Solomon Brunswick who spotted her when he was leaving the brothel where she was working and became evident of such scene: customer tried to leave without paying so Lorena seized him and cut his throat.

Impressed by her savagery he drained the body and turned her.

He was her maker and therefore stronger but he lacked the killing skills that lorena had. The two practiced how to become succesful vampires,but after some time Lorena was caught with the body of the drained child which she blamed on Solomon who barely escaped from the town alive.

Lorena turned Bill in 1870. They had a long-term romantic relationship, which is uncommon for vampires.Eager to make him happy she turned a woman Judith Vardamon in 1902 who greatly resembled his wife , but despite this action their relationship ended eighty years before the beginning of the series.

Bill's Imprisonment

Vampire and Bill Compton's maker and one-time lover. She is first introduced in the third book, Club Dead . She summoned Bill to Mississippi and captured him in order to steal his secret project for the queen of Louisiana. Even though she is killed by Sookie when trying to rescue Bill, she is mentioned in subsequent novels. She is portrayed as being blonde and having brown eyes and a smaller build than Sookie's. In subsequent books, Sookie learns that Bill was going to leave her because Lorena had ordered him to do so.
